Alice Walker’s The Color Purple

This paper is to be a reflection on The Color Purple and should identify tension points, significant relationships, characters, reflective passages and meaningful themes that relate to education, schools, teachers, or students. It should reflect on the educational significance of the novel. Please note that we have also studied John Dewey’s “Pedagogic Creed”, Alfred Whitehead’s “The Aims of Education”, McDaniel’s “Teachers Ten Commandments”, Elizabeth Valance’s “Hiding the Hidden Curriculum” and we have just recently viewed the movie The Elephant Man. Any connections or tie-ins to those sources would be appreciated. The only source required, however, is the book itself, The Color Purple.
